APRIL TO MAY

The end of the year is always an eventful time as everything is wrapping up and seniors are preparing to graduate. However, for the Chronicle, spring brought the addition of five Nikon DSLR cameras and a photojournalism unit that helped change the direction of our newspaper. Our staff began taking photos that demonstrated solid composition techniques, and started winning awards for our pictures as well.

IMPROVED SPORTS COVERAGE

The Chronicle wrapped up several sports seasons, ranging from girls' basketball to cheer to dance and over to wrestling.

ABANDONED DRIVE-IN

Cascade drive-in, the only drive-in in West Chicago, closed down many years ago and has sat vacant ever since. Last year there were rumors of the drive-in's reopening, but they proved false.

In May, some journalism and broadcasting students traveled to the Broadcast museum in downtown Chicago. They also toured the downtown campus of Northwestern Medill.

The bi-annual government simulation offered opportunities for students to explore government’s inner-workings, and the Chronicle was there to talk to participants and Representative Hirschauer in a video exclusive.

PROM 2023

Prom was held at the Museum of Science and Industry this year, allowing students to take in unique exhibits in between dancing.
